The induction ceremony was a proud moment for the school, students and parents. Giulia had even called the Catholic Review to have a photographer come out and photograph the event. Her past public relations skills had taught her how to get free publicity. Appropriate flags decorated the stage in the auditorium. Green artificial plants were placed accordingly. Chairs and the podium were set on the side and a beautiful blue banner with gold lettering ‘St. Alphonso’s Student Council’ hung on the stage curtain. Father Paulie and Jesse attended the ceremony and Paulie was impressed with the planning and outcome. He would never have thought of this.

Mr. Landis, with help from Sophia and the students, organized a memorable ceremony. Sophie, always a step ahead of the game, had ordered the banner as soon as the Student Council was organized.

Vincent, the president elect, gave a speech and was presented with the school gavel. Each officer and representative was given a Student Council pin and the honor of being a representative. A year of fun activities and fundraisers would be planned.

Light refreshments were set-up for parents and guests who attended the ceremony. Helen, Ms. Nelson’s friend, was also in attendance. Giulia kept an eye on them with nervous anticipation and as Helen reached over to squeeze Myrtle’s hand, Giulia cleared her throat loudly giving her a menacing look. She quickly let it go. Mr. Landis and Sophia were photographed and interviewed for the paper and both were thanked by parents for organizing and running the Student Council.
